Toward Cultural Heritage Sustainability through Participatory Planning Based on Investigation of the Value Perceptions and Preservation Attitudes: Qing Mu Chuan, China

Conservation efforts and cooperation from major stakeholders are critical factors for cultural heritage (e.g., historical landmarks) sustainability. Although landscape planners provide professional knowledge intended designs sustainable management of sites, the active effort participation local residents or communities decisive facts whether relevant preservation actions can be successfully implemented. Traditional village landscapes in Qing Mu Chuan, China, were selected as study area. We used photo questionnaires to explore preferences, value perceptions, attitudes toward traditional professionals residents. The results revealed large differences perceptions between two groups. most unexpected finding was that showed much stronger preferences willingness with elements than professionals. In addition, residents’ mainly affected by their perception economic benefits daily utility values, rather values. Meanwhile, professionals’ significantly related recreational perceptions.
